By Sam Stanhope. Fred Durst, vocalist for the band Limp Bizkit, has been spotted taking a trip out with his son — 15 year old Dallas — on Tuesday. The rock star is now 46 years old and both father and son were wearing casual hoodies and shorts on their Hollywood grocery shopping trip. Fred is now sporting a beard which is obviously grey, but the former band member is aging gracefully. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and became interesting in hip-hop, breakdancing, punk rock and heavy metal. It was whilst working as a tattoo artist and mowing lawns that Durst thought about the idea of creating a band that merged rock and hip-hop together. Durst then persuaded the bassist, Sam Rivers, from previous band Malachi Sage, to quit and form their own band together. Korn agreed to take the unsigned Limp Bizkit on two tours, which gave the bad the exposure and audience they needed to make it big. At this point, the band roped in turntabilist, DJ Lethal, to help add the hip-hop element to their hybrid style band. But with one member joining, another left.

Another act, Korn, soon got its hands on the group's demo tape and felt so impressed that it passed it along to producer Ross Robinson. Unsurprisingly, Durst's early film-oriented work consisted primarily of music videos for Bizkit, but by the mids, he began to branch out into non-musical acting roles, where the rough-cut, tattoo-laden rapper made a unique and memorable impression among audiences. Assignments included a small supporting role in the psychologically charged social issues drama Sorry, Haters and a lead opposite Jeremy Sisto in the small town-set supernatural thriller Population Durst then stepped behind the camera with a pair of directorial efforts: the psychodrama The Education of Charlie Banks weaves the tale of a disturbed young man Jason Ritter who aggressively insinuates himself into the life of a college student Jesse Eisenberg in whom he provoked fear and terror during childhood. The much different picture The Longshots, on the other hand, is a sports comedy about an ex-football player Ice Cube who trains his sports-happy year-old niece to qualify as the first female quarterback in her children's football league.
