I'm engaged to a med student we met in undergrad 2 years ago and I've watched him go from playful college kid to serious med student. My kids have run as far away from medicine as possible in terms of a career and my daughter only dates people who have balance in their lives. I don't think you "dodged a bullet" but I do think new residents change Other wives told me my husband would "come back" but we are still in the training so I can't tell you whether that is completely true or not. Yes, we had been in a rough patch for sometime with all of the changing happening around us, moving, starting residency, etc. I understand your internal conflict completely and my heart goes out to you. I don't want to come off as needy or clingy but I've also never dated someone in the medical field before. But the lies sting some people. I haven't read every post like you probably havebut I've read a lot of them. I grew up in Utah, attended BYU, and served a mission.
It sucks to admit, but I broke up with him after 6 months because I didn't think there was any point if we couldn't be together forever. He's a good man. Forget what anyone else says or expects of you.
